KeymasterHI Monika,
unfortunately due to new laws with FDA and health Canada, we are not able to ship supplements outside of North America (this has been the case the past 3 years).

ParticipantHello Marla I have been taking chlorella for about a month now. It’s from now foods brand I take 1/4 teaspoon (couldn’t do more than that bcoz it flared me up) and noticed that it made me go toilet more frequently which is fine but then this last week it makes me super nauseous after 2-3 hours of taking it along with heart palpitation, hotness, urge to go toilet and vomiting. What do you think is happening why am I having these terrible symptoms still taking 1/4 teaspoon tho, please help? In the meantime, I had trouble logging in here even with the different accounts so I read some forums on google and many ppl were having the exact same reaction to chlorella.
Please let me know what are your thoughts on this, much love

KeymasterHey Feride,
Are you taking any other medications or supplements as well or just chlorella in the day?
July 11, 2022 at 1:58 am #3962Feride Amshoska
ParticipantI take my Lexapro antidepressant in the morning, and also take other supplements like vitamin d, zinc, collagen, sometimes liver support, CoQ10, mullein too but not all at once it’s during the day. When I take chlorella I take it on an empty stomach an hour later than any of the supplements and then wait another hour if I need to take something else.

KeymasterOK.
Chlorophyll in chlorella could be causing symptoms (if the reaction is occurring shortly after) however it could be form the combination of other remedies you’re taking. Going to the bathroom more frequently is normal and even nausea when on an empty stomach because it is alkaline. But heart palpitations and hotness usually indicates a sensitivity of some sort. try cutting it out for 2 weeks and see what happens.

ParticipantI stopped chlorella for a few days and was fine today I took 1/8 teaspoon again and the same symptoms are back. It happens 1 hour after taking it. I have tried just a chlorophyll supplement in the past this never occurred with chlorophyll. I’m in agony again I wish I didn’t take it again. Threw it in the trash right away. How can something so healthy make you this sick I’m wondering or maybe I’m allergic to it or something … the nausea is unbearable this cant be normal

ParticipantOk here is an update on my situation. Yesterday I got violently ill vomiting, diarrhea, nausea I mean severe nausea, sweating profusely, and raised heartbeats. Became very pale as well. My mouth was so dry the agony was real also felt very cold and shaky. I was like that for 2 hours without stopping and had to call an ambulance. I got exhausted from the whole experience really quickly. Couldn’t get up and was feeling dizzy and fainty my gosh it was horrendous, to say the least. I have never been that scared for my life. Two hours in a row vomiting yellow liquid the smell was horrendous I was even gasping for air. Barely crawled to open the door for the paramedics. All this happened with only 1/8 teaspoon of chlorella within 1 hour of taking it. I will never ever take it again nor would recommend it to someone without telling this experience first, on google forums and reviews many ppl had the same experience.
I’m not sure if you had ever come across with someone that has had an experience like this from chlorella but here I’m telling my story. Please mention this to everyone before recommending it to ppl just in case. Reading the reviews and forums on google made me feel like I’m not the only one and it gives you the ease of mind for a second. We are not supposed to feel sick when we are healing. I understand it’s a healthy food/ supplement but so many ppl suffering from it … it makes you wonder really … even the reviews on iherb website where I got the supplement from were saying the same thing, ppl having very bad experiences with chlorella.
My whole upper body feels sore from the violent vomiting but thank god I’m feeling better today.

KeymasterOh no i am so sorry to hear you had that experience! Definitely is scarry! š
Chlorophyll is gentler because it is just the green component of the chlorella however doesnt have the same binding effect. Chlorophyll often causes nausea/heartburn though depending on how much you take and when. Also some people who cant tolerate chlorella find spirulina is better for them but again, if you’re having such a strong reaction the chlorella, i would avoid all greens powders for now.
Certain people who have mold allergy/sensitivity can be allergic/sensitive to chlorella as well and have that type of reaction. that being said, the same thing could happen with any supplement. For example, people with sulfa or sulfur intolerance have that reaction to NAC or glutathione. Or people with elevated histamine can react that same way to ascorbic acid… so the supplement isn’t the issue, it is just that certain remedies are not right for certain individuals. Every natural remedy has the potential to cause negative symptoms if it is not right for THAT person. I always recommend working with a practitioner so that they can do a full assessment to determine any potentials present risk factors that would indicate the need to avoid certain substances. I always have my clients try a remedy and if they have a negative symptom, i suggest they decrease the dosage significantly. if the symptom persists, remove it entirely for a while and then reintroduce with a minute dose and observe… if the reactions comes back. stop the remedy completely.

KeymasterI would like to add that Lyme disease patients often experience the exact symptoms you discussed which is a detox reaction their body underwent when taking chlorella. it is EXTREMELY detoxifying for the cells and can cause a ‘herx’ reaction or detox reaction especially if mold is present in the body. FOr my clients that show there may be mold toxicity, i have them start with a TINY sprinkle of chlorella (equivalent to 1/16 tsp)Ā or even less on their food for the first few weeks and SLOWLY increase to taking more and then eventually on an empty stomach.
This could be the case for you, IF you have mold toxicity.

ParticipantOh wow ok, that makes sense. I have never been tested for Lyme should I do testing for it and which test do you recommend?
Also, the mold thing, I might have toxicity because there is a little spot in my bathroom that looks a little bit moldy plus here in Australia the humidity is crazy. Should I do mold toxicity testing and which one is the best, please? I have symptoms that indicate mold toxicity but was blaming it on candida fungal overgrowth, you mentioned once that you can get it from eating cheese and peanuts too which I have been consuming often, especially peanuts in the past.
Do candida cleansing and the supplements recommended for it help with mold toxicity? I made a water solution of 1 cup of water and 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil and sprayed it in the bathroom, I’ll do it more often, does it help with mold if not what do you recommend doing for it, please?
Sorry for the bunch of questions but this got me really thinking about the reaction I got from chlorella and I’m trying to find out what’s wrong with me I HOPE I don’t have Lyme tho it just sounds so scary.

KeymasterI wasn’t saying you have Lyme or need to test for it, just that certain people can be very sensitive to certain supplements depending on how much toxicity or viral/pathogenic burden they have. I unfortunately dont have recommendations for Lyme testing as that is not my field.
Many people have mold toxicity to a certain degree since it is in a lot foods and our environment and most of us are damp and have yeast and other fungus already in our body that our body is favourable for it.
yes fungal cleanses will help with mold especially things like cove, caprylic acid, wormwood, etc.
i wouldnt recommend putting water on the mold as dampness is what allows it to thrive. instead get a dehumidifier running 24/7 in there and make sure there is circulation in there (fan/vent/window, etc). if you are to use tea tree, I would be cleaning it with starlight up tea tree

ParticipantHey, marla I have gallbladder stones (sludge) I’m taking digestive enzymes and betaine however I wanted to try bile salts too. Now I have heard about Tudca supplementation too and don’t really which one is better to take. What would you recommend Tudca or Bile salts or maybe both I don’t know and I would like to know what you think of it, thank you and God bless

KeymasterI cant give you a specific recommendaiton again because you’re not a client but usually when people have gallstones i recommend lemon, olive oil and rosemary! tudca is great but check with your practitioner before supplementing!

ParticipantCan the bile salts be taken with digestive enzymes and betaine or that would be too much?
