Hey Marla, I just finished 3 months of doxy for Lyme disease, and unfortunately I am still flaring up. On top of that, I feel completely messed up from the antibiotics. I have acne all over my face and chest, bloating, and my emotions have been soooo bad this week especially. Terrible depression, anxiety, crying spells, feeling like I want to escape my body. Haven’t felt this way since before seeing you. I purchased the HMF probiotics for after antibiotics and am just waiting for them to come in the mail. I’ve supplemented probiotics throughout the course of my treatment, been adding L-glut, aloe Vera, and gelatin to my teas. Did homeopathic drainage. Still all these symptoms. I’ve been consuming a little bit of extra sugar this week which makes me wonder, but haven’t had it in a couple days. I also did a vitamin infusion this week and flared less than 24 hrs later. So much going on and I just don’t know what else to do.

antibiotics dont just kill probiotics but they HEAVILY burden the liver being on them for 3 months is a lot of stress for the liver as well as the gut. I would be doing lots of liver support along with the probiotics. for foods you cna do beets, dandelion, grapefruit, broccoli. For supplements, sulforaphane, NAC, and drainage.

Oh man 😣 It’s made even worse by the fact that it didn’t even help the Lyme. Definitely will support my liver now. At this point is it less effective to be taking gut supporting supplements like GI Fortify, aloe, gelatin? Should I wait until after helping my liver to do those? Also do you think the vitamin infusion could be related to my flare? Thank you so much Marla!

oh no thats too bad! From my research, it seems the best chances of clearing Lyme and its coinfections with antibiotics is within the first 48 hours. after that, chances are reduced 🙁 I would definitely keep up with GI fortify (which has aloe and Lglutamine) just t keep the colon emunctory moving. sometimes vitamin infusions MAY make you flare if you have more than you need as it can burden the liver which needs to store certain vitamins.

It’s the worst thing in the world! I’ve heard recently of Scalar laser therapy for all health conditions; including Lyme. Still thinking and praying on it. Have you heard of it?
That makes total sense with the vitamins, and I’ll keep taking GI Fortify. Just ordered another set of drainage supplements and am taking sulforophane and NAC per your suggestion!

Ah ok! I might try it since I feel I have nothing to lose at this point. We’ll see!

Hi Marla! So I have been taking the drainage for a little over 1 week along with sulforophane and NAC. Normally after even just a couple days I see drastic improvement with drainage every time I’ve done it. So far I am not seeing any results — which maybe is more normal than seeing fast results like I’ve had before. But I was taking a ton of gut supporting supplements and stopped taking everything because I felt like my liver needed a break as my body feels like it’s going bezerk. Just taking NAC and fish oil along with the homeopaths. Maybe still ok to take sulforophane?

Anyway, my skin is still terrible. Bumps all over my face — some are surface acne that can scratch off, others are deeper. Cystic acne on my jaw and chest. Which I know from learning is a sign of toxicity. Also my skin feels soooo dry internally – my eyes and scalp are dry too. Maybe that’s from the dryer air and colder weather right now. But wondering why I’m not seeing results with the drainage — if there’s something else I’m missing or could be doing, or maybe something else going wrong? Or I just need to be more patient? But I’d rather check in before the drainage is done and I could have done something sooner. Worth noting also that my doc has me on a thyroid medicine – NP thyroid. Maybe these symptoms are possibly side effects of taking this new med daily.

Thank you Marla ❤️ Happy American Thanksgiving ❤️🦃🍁🍽 I am always thankful for you!

    Hey Marissa,

your liver could very well need a break form everything and/OR your adrenals and body needs lots of support to have the energy to detox properly. Perhaps try doing black currant bud or rubes nigrum gemmo to help support adrenals and energy as the body cant heal itself without adrenal support. Also doing NAC may not always be right for you. if youve taken it a lot or for a longer time you might want to stop that. sulforophane is also something that needs to be taken on an as-needed basis.

If you’re feeling like your skin is bad, i would try chlorophyll fi your practitioner gives you the OK with the protocol youre doing for Lyme. You also may need lots mroe probiotics from the antibiotic course.

Increase soluble fiber and LOTS of water. Dryness in the skin is related to cellular toxicity and omega 3 deficiency. if the cells cant absorb nutrients and fluids easily due to membrane damage you will feel more dry. Pure Encaps pro resolve omega could start to help this however again check with your Lyme doctor if omega 3s can be used right now.

    Happy thanksgiving!

Ok, possibly my adrenals. I know they are super underactive. I am taking black current bud with the drainage, could I also take the Rubes Nigrum or would that be overkill?

i haven’t taken NAC for long periods of time or a lot in the past, so I might still take it… I have about 250 billion CFUs of probiotics daily and take chlorophyll daily as well.

my doc has me on an omega, and after bloodwork it didn’t help my good levels increase at all. They actually went down 🤔 My omega 6s are also super high still. So I started also take a Genestra omega supplement but I don’t know yet if it has helped. Not sure why taking supplements isn’t helping my good omega levels, why I’m not absorbing it.

yes do one or the other 🙂

Try doing Pro resolve omega form pure encapsulations rather than regular fish oil as it is better for bringing up omega 3s. If the fish oil youre taking is turning inflammatory in the body from lack of antioxidants than it can drive up the 6s even higher.

Ooh I’m looking into that. I had a recheck and my omegas actually did go up a little, but he wants them to come up more. I won’t be seeing him anymore, however. He put me on thyroid meds which didn’t work (my blood levels never changed), and when I took myself off of it all of the tiny bumps all over my face from toxicity went away. I wonder if because it’s natural thyroid from pig thyroid what kind of source it’s from. 😬 And he was putting me through a super cookie-cutter Lyme approach and didn’t understand a lot of what I was explaining to him. But anyway, yes I’ll look into the pro resolve. The little toxicity bumps are now gone but I am still getting cystic acne on my cheeks and jawline. I’m guessing my hormones have been completely out of wack from the antibiotics and the thyroid meds.

Aw thats too bad! Its so hard finding a doctor who can combine both allopathic medicine along with immunology and functional medicine to give you the perfect well-rounded approach! I heard there was a doctor in new York (can’t remember her name) who is incredible with Lyme!

Ensure you are consuming 2 servings of cruciferous veggies daily and try doing HFE drops from genestra to stabilize female hormones more perhaps!
