Hi Marla
my sister in law just found out she has penumothorax. She was in hospital, to get a lung drainage. Doctors told her that this is the only option, aside from surgery. Now, after 3 weeks, she went back for a follow up and it seems that the pneumothorax is back again. doctors told her she had to get the surgery as soon as possible. But she want’s to Take the conservative approach, and monitor the pneumothorax at home and see if it goes Away on it’s own. She read some studies on this, and it seems Like patients who recovered at home had less chance to have a relaps, than those who had surgery.
do you have Any knowledge about this topic? What is the cause for pneumothorax? Can she do something about it long term to precent further relaps? What she can do now to recover without surgery?
thank you So much!
