Hello Is there any remedy available to help close a baby’s fontanelle past 18 months

Babys fontanelle not closing by 2 years of age could indicate thyroid issues brain inflammation or skeletal issues. There isn’t a “remedy” to close it unfortunately. If it is thyroid related, there is some work that could be done to potentially help. If it is brain inflammation, same thing. By lowering brain inflammation you can decrease excess fluid. Did the doctor give any info?

We got a blood test done. My son was a preemie so his corrected age is 16.5 months and actual age is 18 months. I forgot to ask the doctor if the fontanelle should close by the actual age or corrected. We got a blood test done to check the thyroid levels. Don’t have the report yet. The doctor said that some babies take longer anyways but he’s thinking about getting an X-ray done if the blood test report is normal. He said it could be something genetic as well. I’m quite scared to be honest.

Thanks for the update! How’d the blood test/Xray go?
