ParticipantHello,
Just wanted to give you and update and ask a question. I am doing well with the repair phase just over 3 weeks now.
I have a question. I might have to go on antibiotics for about a week due to a possible tooth infection following an extraction. I am against antibiotics but perhaps here I will not have much of a choice. If this happens I am worried that all my candida cleanse and repair is for nothing. Do you have a basic protocol on how to minimize the effects of antibiotics and how to repopulate the good bacteria during and afterwards? I know I saw it somewhere on the site or your youtube channel but right now I cannot find it. I would hate to start all over again. Any advice? Thank you.

KeymasterHey! yes when taking antibiotics, do 100billion cfu probiotics minimum for the week before and during the course and then afterwards, up to 250billion or higher for at least 3 months to replenish. Also do liver support as antibiotics are hard on the liver! I like LVDTX from douglas labs (can find it on puremarket.ca).

ParticipantOk, that sounds great. Thank you again. Do you think I will need to go back to the candida cleanse (I did 3 months) or I can continue my phase II repair afterwards? How does the post antibiotic 3month replenish overlap with the phase III repopulate of healing leaky gut protocol which I have not started yet? Just want to see how I can time/blend it all.
Also I read somewhere that Saccharomyces Boulardii helps to fight/displace candida in addition to L. rhamnosus and L. acidopilus. I know I can get the last 2 from a good probiotic but would you recommend adding S. Boulardii?
Regards

Keymasterit really depends! if youre keeping your diet lower starch during this time still and eating very clean, you shouldnt have to redo but i cant guarantee! taking antibiotis shouldn’t really change your action plan… just continue with LOTS of probiotics, liver support and prebiotics and you should be good to go 🙂 You might need to stay on the replace phase for longer than planned.
YES! love S. boulardii ! You can definitely add it in 🙂

ParticipantOK, I have been strict, I’m still keeping my carbs pretty low and they are: berries, grapefruit, green apples, sweet potato, arrowroot, peas, some hummus). I think I can continue this and follow your advice. We will see what happens, it’s all a big project for me and I am enjoying the experiment.
Thank you again. Have a great day.

ParticipantMarla,
Hello, just to give you an update as it’s been awhile. After the anti-biotics I followed your advise. Low carb, pro & prebiotics, LVDTX, etc…. I must say the antibiotics did mess up my stomach/digestion for a good week or so. That is a bit strange as I don’t recall ever having issues post anti biotics in the past also it’s been like 8+ yrs since I took antibiotics. Anyways, after about a week everything returned back to normal and I was able to continue phase II: Repair. I am glad and thank you for the advice.
So have been working on phase two from 2nd have of April until June. I have been eating clean this entire time; my only sin is occasional beer or two. Last month went to Mexico for a couple of weeks and tried my best to eat clean. Did not do any sweets and processed food but I could not always stay away from Mexican corn products (tortilla, tlacoyo, huarache…) and beer. Upon coming back home I did notice a white “film” on my tongue in the mornings. Have not paid much attention to it lately so can’t say if it was way worse than ever before or not. Either way, I’m assuming it’s probably candida related. So I went back to phase I: the cleanse. Been at it for 2 weeks now. Honestly, I am not sure how long to do this. Would hate to do another 90+ days. Also, if it is candida does it mean my initial clean was not long enough or effective. Any advice?
Regards,
Patryk

KeymasterHello!
Alot of times, people stop the candida diet too soon before eliminating the biofilms so then when you go back to eating starch such as corn and beer, they flare up and you’re back to a flare again. 90 days is the minimum for a candida cleanse but for someone who has much more severer overgrowth sometimes we are on antifungals for like 6 months straight (not as strict with diet this entire time). I would suggest watching the video on biofilms that I made (under videos tab) if you havent to understand a bit more about them.
I would start the candida cleanse again however you can have more carbs than the first time around but just stick to a whole-foods and minimal processed foods diet. Try taking biofilm disrupters such as clove and lemongrass oil for example and see if that helps. Olive leaf is great too!

ParticipantOk, that works. I did see your video and it is very helpful. I will follow your advice and just add a bit more carbs. As long as I can have some lentils, sweet potato, zucchini/squash, some carrots, grapefruit, green apples, berries, and a bit of cassava flour that is all I need. I can keep this up for a long long time. I don’t need any processed food nor any grains….I found out I function much better when I don’t eat them anyway.
Thank you again Marla, best regards.
