Hello! The thing with burning mouth syndrome is that there can be SO MANY causes of it and it would be impossible for me to know what those are without running tests.
A few things to consider/do are:
1. I would test for h. pylori – could be silent reflux from hypochlorhydria.
2. I would look also into Mast cell activation syndrome, causing elevation of substance P, causing pain.
3. Could be connected to perimenopause and sugar. Sometimes just avoiding sugar causes your mouth to not burn!
4. Check for Lyme disease as this could be a rare symptom but noted in this publication: https://WWW.RESEARCHPOSTERS.COM/POSTERS/AAOHNSF/AAO2010/SP151.PDF
5. get an allergy and food sensitivity test done (UgE, IgG, IgA ELISA test).
And figuring out the root cause is not easy, so set accurate expectations for yourself and be precise in your compliance, as it may take a while to sort out.
Hope this helps!
