    Hi Marla,

I came across the term “biofilm buster” to help get rid of bacteria (for sibo). Klaire Labs Interfase is a brand I’ve been seeing being recommended.

Do you have any thoughts on taking biofilm buster as well as how long of a period one should take?

    Thank you,
    Crystal

Biofilm disrupters are needed while taking antifungal/antibacterial however the duration depends on the severity of your SIBO as well as how long you’ve had SIBO, etc.

Hello Marla, in regards to taking digestive enzymes so far I have tried 2 different brands. One is for the digestion of fats, carbohydrates, protein, and lactose from dairy which made me vomit two times so far gave me cold sweat right after 5-10 min of taking it, and super uncomfortable feeling. The other one is for the digestion of complex carbohydrates, lactose, and fats, and haven’t had any reaction from it so far. Now I know I won’t take the one that makes me vomit but I wanted to ask you what do you think I got that reaction from? The one that made me vomit says that contains six enzymes (triple-action) and the one that is ok says it contains 4 digestive enzymes. I just wanted to hear your opinion so maybe I can find what is causing me to vomit from it or something is wrong with my stomach perhaps I have no idea. Thank you in advance 🙂

Hello, Marla, I was really hoping to get an answer to this question about digestive enzymes.  Also, I started the keto diet and sometimes I feel nauseous after eating (meat and cooked vegetables) and I get diarrhea after that. I also take digestive enzymes. I noticed after eating things with cream cheese or almond butter or I do have diarrhea too. It’s been a month on keto don’t know whether my body is adjusting to it or I have a gallbladder problem, would like to know what do you think about it, please. Another thing is I made a nice recipe with heavy cream and I felt terrible, heaviness in the stomach super uncomfortable.

Hello! I am sorry I ma not sure why i am not getting notified when questions are posted!! SO SORRY!

there can be additives in the enzymes that can cause the vomiting or it can be from bile. it really depends on the enzymes and what is in them. Were you taking it on an empty stomach or with food?

nausea is an indication of not enough bile and the keto diet is so high in fat that the body needs alot more bile to break everything down. try supplementing with ox bile (20 mins before meals) to see if the nausea helps. And/or you can try betaine HCl with meals to see if that helps the nausea. It also seems like you have a dairy issue because heavy cream, cream cheese, etc is inflammatory and could trigger loose stools. have you ever had a food sensitivity test done? I would recommend cutting out dairy completely and seeing how you feel 🙂

Oh, that’s ok I just saw the reply too and didn’t get a notification I just opened it to check. The enzymes that made me vomit I took right before eating that’s what is said on the bottle. At the time didn’t know but now I know I have gallstones. And wasn’t on the keto diet back when that happened. I did a post about my gallstones a thorough question under digestive issues topic yesterday. I’m on a healthy keto diet whatsoever but the one time I made a recipe with heavy cream I felt super heavy feeling where the gallbladder is, uneasy, and fullness for 7 hours after that and I just told my GP and made ultrasound which confirmed gallstones.

I do take betaine and enzymes (the ones that don’t make vomit) and see a good improvement in my digestion however still feel some bloating, so I take enzymes before eating like 10 min before eating that’s what it says on the bottle, and then while I eat I take the betaine now when should I include the bile sats?

Now, as far as dairy I haven’t done any testing for sensitivity I never had a problem with dairy before although I try to avoid it. Thank you for your help, God bless 🙂

I would NOT be following a KETO diet if you have gallstones. Try increasing fiber and vegetables and protein and cutting way back on fat.

I wouldnt take bile salts either. stick to betaine HCl for now and LOTS of water.

Do bile salts make things worse when they are taken and gallstones are present?

not necessarily but they can overburden the gallbaldder if you have too much bile salts in the body

Is there any chance for the gallstones to be dissolved from the bile salts (taken in smaller doses)? And is stone root tincture safe to be taken for it too (not necessarily taken at the same time with the bile salts tho), I heard it helps but want to hear your opinion on it? Sorry for asking so many questions.

gallstones are made of undigested cholesterol so in order to dissolve cholesterol, you want to do things such as lemon, support the liver, etc. That being said, you can take ox bile too and see if that helps. I am not familiar with stone root so cannot make recommendations on that.
