Is it true that there has been some research that shows that high fat diet could also feed candida and low-carb diet could weaken immune system which could lead to the worsening of candida overgrowth? What are your thoughts on it? Also, is it safe to be on a candida cleanse for longer than 6 months? Would it cause nutritional imbalances?

High fat does not feed candida but high protein does since protein can turn to glucose if there is a deficiency of carbs in the system. That being said, eating high fat when you have a lot of mucous (congestion, sinus issues, phlegm, etc) isn’t the best idea as fat makes more mucous production and dampness which can then create a house for bacteria to thrive.

The best way to eat for candida is a lower carb (NOT CARB FREE), high veggie, moderate protein and fat diet to ensure you’re not overdoing the fat or protein and not under-doing the carbs. this is why on my protocols, buckwheat, quinoa, carrots, berries, etc are allowed.

Its never a good idea to follow one type of diet for too long as your body needs different types of foods, fibers, nutrients, etc. Everyone is different so follow the diet as long as you need but then slowly morph your diet into what works best for you once your health has improved.
