Hi Marla, can you please advise what may be root cause of acid reflux (diabetic person) and what alcohol would be least offensive? Thank you so much

    Hey Monika,

Sorry for the delay, I didnt see this post as it was posted as a new tab! i reposted it to the digestion section 🙂

Acid reflux is typically coming from an underactive stomach. This gets triggered by underactive thyroid (the thyroid regulates the stomach acid secretion) as well as poor vagal motor outflow (which gets triggered by chronic stress, concussions, and inflammation) and elevated stress (stress decreases blood flow to the gut so impairs digestion). There is more to it but this is the basic starting point.

Typically, you would want to boost stomach acid (as long as there are no ulcers/hiatal hernia) with thing like betaine hcl and Apple cider vinegar. You would also want to support the thyroid if it is underactive and start transcutaneous vagal nerve stimulation.

Unfortunately, all alcohols are highly damaging to the stomach and gut so there aren’t any I could recommend. Especially if the person is diabetic, alcohol is extremely detrimental.

This video explains more about the stomach: http://holisticspring.org/videos/#foogallery-294/i:61

    Hope this helps!
