ParticipantHello!
I read your article about Th1 and 2 polarization. I am reading conflicting info on the internet and need some clarification.
For people with CIRS and chronic lyme, are they usually Th2 dominant? OneĀ holistic practioner said Lyme is a Th1 dominance.
What are the best ways to lower Th2? I read about the ways to bring up Th1, but curious if supplements actually lower th2 or not.
Thanks!

KeymasterHi Jessica,
I would first like to clarify that it depends on the PERSON. Yes some conditions TEND to indicate that youre leaning towards 1 side more often than the other but individuals who have a “th1 driven” autoimmune can in fact be Th1 dominant and vice versa.
That being said most the time when chronic pathogens, infections, or parasites are involved, the person is usually th2/Th17 dominant. For Lyme, it is often Th2 dominance however I have seen many cases where the person is Th1 dominant. The best is to work with a practitioner if you are not sure which way you are tipped. Chronic steroid use, antibiotic use, skin conditions, dysbiosis, chronic stress, etc are all indicators the person may be Th2 dominant.
YES you can lower Th2 with supplements, the best supplement is Pure Encapsulations Th2 modulator to bring down the dominance.
Hope this helps!

ParticipantThanks for this response!
I have been so confused since I have symptoms from th1 and 2 (and 17) polarization. Some doctors (like Dr. Jess MD on Instagram who is a mold/lyme expert) said mold is a th1/17 issue. But then others say it is a th2 dominance. Looks like I will need to dig deeper and work with you for sure since I know you won’t be able to answer my questions to my specific issues without me as a client. Man, this chronic illness stuff is challenging to understand.

KeymasterIf you have mold toxicity you are usually th2 dominant as the Th1 immune system is what scans the body for viruses/pathogens/toxins. If mold has taken hold, the Th1 immune system is not working as robustly therefor you need to elevate it. Chronic infections upregulate Th2 immune cells so if you have mold you would usually need to downregulate the Th2 side. Biology/immunology and pathology are very intense and heavy and vary so differently from person to person !
