What type of diet is best for high cholesterol? Is it okay to ok to have half an avocado, 2-3 eggs in coconut oil, grass fed ghee occasionally, olive oil/avocado oil, nuts and seeds, bananas when you have high cholesterol along with about 1.5 tablespoon of maple syrup in matches and 1 date. What do we really need to avoid when you have high cholesterol (around 7 when normal is 5). Is buckwheat and quinoa ok in regular diet. How about cassave flour/arrowroot powder (occasionally). Do you recommend any supplements? Thanks Marla!

The best way to eat is HIGHLY alkaline (LOADS of dark green veggies, berries, lemon, grapefruit, etc) with a good amount of protein from wild caught fish and chicken, turkey, etc and then some starch from quinoa, buckwheat, berries, squash, peas, etc) and small amount of fat coming from fatty fish, coconut oil, nuts, seeds, eggs. You also need to be eating a lot of soluble fiber (chia, flax, psyllium husk) to balance cholesterol. Superfoods like ginger, turmeric, maca, etc are also great.

So yes HEALTHY fats are great and don’t raise cholesterol. is the bad fats over a lifetime like canola oils, butters, margarines, steak,  and even sugars that trigger elevated LDL.

Matcha SHOULD be OK but it depends on whether or not your doctor told you to avoid caffeine. YOU HAVE to be avoiding all sugar and processed and refined foods when you have high cholesterol.

Natural supplements for cholesterol would be (ONLY TAKE AFTER CHECKING WITH YOUR DOCTOR):
