What high cortisol does to the body, does it make you feel heavy, out of breath, does it have a connection with food digestion and bloating, how it interferes with periods? is it connected with sleep disturbances and anxiety and depression?

    Hello!

yes high cortisol can cause all of the above and more! It won’t make you feel heavy directly however it an cause weight gain as it disrupts your hormones and can definitely cause digestive issues since chronic stress causes vagal nerve damage. It also disrupts our periods as it decreases estrogen production and increases testosterone/androgens. It disrupts sleep by reducing melatonin production. cortisol keeps us awake so we have a harder time falling asleep or staying asleep too. It also creates brain inflammation which can lead to deficiency in certain neurotransmitters like dopamine and can definitely cause us to feel sad/depressed/anxious.

Reducing stress, sleeping properly 9see guides under RESOURCES), taking adaptogens and supporting our adrenals is essential !
