    Hi Marla,
When I browse the Aip diet food lists of things to avoid, often times you’ll see things like, mustard, almonds, flax, chia, cashew, sunflower, pumpkin. In your opinion, someone who is trying to improve their hashimoto’s should we really be avoiding these?
    Thanks

Until all signs and symptoms of inflammation are gone, I think you should be avoiding:

    • Gluten
    • dairy
    • ANY sugar (except stevia, yacon, monk fruit)
    • yeast
    • mushrooms (except medicinal)
    • peanuts, soy and corn
    • all grains (except buckwheat and quinoa)
    • all legumes (except lentils)
    • all sweet fruit such sweet potato, watermelon, banana etc (except berries, green apples, pomegranates and grapefruit).
    • Pork and limit red meat

Also you want to avoid foods that you are specifically sensitive too! SO potentially needing to avoid almonds for example.

SO what can you eat lol? You can eat lean proteins, wild caught fish, all vegetables including squash and jicama, healthy fats coming from coconut, avocado, nuts and seeds, healthy carbs from buckwheat, quinoa, lentils, millet, squash, peas, etc and some fresh fruit from berries and other low-sugar fruits!

    Thank you!
How picky are you with lentils? do they need to be organic non gmo? is that a concern here?
do you buy the ones that need to be soaked, which ones should I be looking out for?

also, I had my food sensitivities checked 2 years ago, I have been avoiding  most of them completely since then, some avoiding at 85%.
Since its been so long do you recommend I get them  checked again? How likely have they disappeared or I should still avoid?

Lentils need to be organic and ideally sprouted.

Food sensitivities change every 8 weeks or so. You could get them tested again to see which new ones have developed, if any 🙂
