I have seen multiple people with EoE and seen significant improvement without medications. First, determine the person’s immune phenotype dominance. If it is Th2 and/or Th9 (or whatever it turns out to be) you want to inhibit the phenotype specific autocrine cytokines.
If Th2 dominant:
Push back against IL-4 with perilla (Th2 modulator), use GATA3 inhibition such as oxymatrine.
If Th9:
Use the above and also work to inhibit TGF-b with things like GSH (glutathione) and NAC.
Also address all Th2 (for example) promoters in their entire clinical picture. For example, address any dysbiosis, mold, stress, toxins, EDCs, sleep disturbance, metabolic dysfunction, etc. A practitioner can help you determine the type of immune dominance she has.
Remember that this is NOT an EoE case. It is a person with an EoE diagnosis. EoE is not happening in a vacuum separate from the rest of the person. All factors (exposome) have the potential to work for or against our clinical goals. The more we can use to our advantage, the better.
